A rapid transformation is taking place in public health, medical care, and social services to cope with an aging society, including advancements in hospital-based and at-home medical treatment, the prevention of medical accidents, and improvements in social services and nursing care. In such social circumstances, there is strong demand for the training of high-quality nursing professionals who have solid technical skills and good character.
The Osaka City University School of Nursing trains nursing professionals through the acquisition of advanced, specialized knowledge and skills. Our students also become cultured and develop a rich character based on a recognition of the dignity of life. These qualities make them capable of helping to improve public health, medical care, and social services under changing social conditions.
In the School of Nursing, the following curriculum has been devised based on human resource development objectives.
The School of Nursing has various facilities for training and practice that will lead to benefits for people undergoing advanced treatments and societies with an aging, declining population. The location in the center of Osaka provides a rich urban environment, and many adjacent facilities offer opportunities for practice, including the Osaka City University Hospital, public health and social service centers in the city, community support centers, and visiting nurse service stations.
After the requisite number of credits has been earned in the School of Nursing, a student is qualified to take the National Examination to become a nurse or public health nurse. Graduates may also go on to attend a midwifery school, study to be a school nurse, or attend a graduate school.
Graduates may be hired to work as nurses or public health nurses at the Osaka City University Hospital or at a public and private hospital, public health center, corporation, school, or other organization. Since the founding of our school, 100% of graduates have passed the National Nursing Examination.
